More Than Gold is the charity representing the Churches in the UK for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics Games and other major sporting events.
The principal objective of More Than Gold is to mobilise the Christian Churches and agencies in England to play a full part in serving the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG) and the various Olympic bodies, as they seek to deliver the Olympic legacy. It has been a tradition for the Churches in the Olympics host country to mobilise thousands of volunteers, providing hospitality for families of athletes, offering chaplaincy services and the distributing of water to spectators, among many other activities.
To ensure you know what support and information is available make sure your Church has a More Than Gold “Gold Champion” – go onto the website and sign up asap.
Nationwide Tour starts soon! More Than Gold are touring the country helping Churches to see how they can engage with the 2012 games to reach their communities. Check out the website to see the locations between Newcastle, Rochester Kent, Oxford, Birmingham, CRE at Esher and so many more. Don’t miss this great opportunity.

Run The Race Daily Readings
Run The Race is a collection of daily readings compiled especially for the 2012 Games. The collection has been approved as a More than Gold resource for the Games.
The daily readings are now available as a book and are suitable for personal reading or for ideas for youth and church groups. In addition to the book, the readings are being posted online over the forthcoming weeks in the lead up to the Olympics and then again daily during the actual Games.
Run the Race embraces the excitement of the Games whilst encouraging Christians in their “race of faith”. All readings have an athletics theme and regularly uncover the links between the many NT verses and Greek athletic culture of the day. It leads us to look unto Jesus Christ who has already completed the race and wants to lead us to fulfil every potential for our lives.
